A 25-year-old Dyersburg man is accused of kidnapping his own daughter and assaulting two women last week.
The State Gazette reports Andrew McDaniel was issued a $200,000 bond Monday in court on charges of especially aggravated kidnapping, two counts of aggravated assault and especially aggravated burglary.
Police say last Thursday, McDaniel went into the home where his 3-year-old daughter was staying and forced open a door.
He was allegedly carrying a large axe handle and used it to knock holes into the walls, including one above the bed where the child was.
Officials stated McDaniel then took his daughter and tried to leave, but the two females inside the home grabbed her to prevent the alleged kidnapping.
McDaniel is accused of then hitting one of the women several times with the axe handle, the newspaper reports.
Police responded to the scene, but McDaniel had fled on foot.
He was taken into custody without incident a short time later after officers located him walking down a nearby road.
The 3-year-old girl was not injured.
McDaniel is due in court again April 11.
