A Tibetan mastiff puppy that sold for nearly $2 million is believed to have earned the title of “World's Most Expensive Dog.”

The golden-hair puppy was purchased by a 56-year-old property developer for $1.9 million and currently measures in at 31 inches tall and weighs nearly 200 pounds, the New York Daily Times reported.

The newspaper reported the canines were previously used in places such as Central Asia and Tibet and are known for their loyalty and guardian instincts.

The expensive canine is said to be a status symbol among the wealthy in China.
