The Tennessee Titans have released longtime kicker Rob Bironas.
In a statement, Titans General Manager Ruston Webster said, “We want to thank Rob for his nine years of service to the Titans. He has been an outstanding kicker and we appreciate him both for his contributions on the field and in our community.”
Bironas, 36, signed with the Titans in 2005 and had just signed a two-year deal worth a reported $6.7 million last March.
By waiving Bironas, the Titans save over $3 million against their salary cap.
Bironas is the second all-time leading scorer in team history with 1,032 points behind only Al Del Greco.
He made 25 of 29 field goals last season and hit 85.7 percent of his kicks in his career.
