A 44 pound infant from Columbia has been put on a special diet to help him lose weight.
Eight-month-old Santiago Fandino's mother Eunice said she began seeking medical help for her son when folds of fat begin hindering his ability to move.
In an interview with RCN Television, Fandino said, “I'm worried about his obesity. I don't want him to continue like this so, God willing, the treatment they're going to give him for his heart will work to reduce his weight.”
It is unclear what kind of treatment Santiago will receive for his heart.
ABC News reported doctors are hoping Santiago will drop more than 25 pounds by weaning him off of formula and adding more fruit and vegetables to his diet.
Currently Santiago is more than double the average weight for a baby his age.
