Police: Dispute occurred before Ellington Parkway shooting

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Metro police believe a man shot and killed as he drove on Ellington Parkway Saturday afternoon was targeted and the shooting followed a dispute at a nearby market.

Justin Roake, 21, of Madison, died after he was shot in the head around 2:45 p.m.

Just 10 minutes prior to the shooting, police said Roake and his passenger got into an argument with the suspected gunman at the Mag Market on Dickerson Pike.

Investigators said the fight escalated as both Roake and the suspect traveled north on Ellington Parkway.

Roake was shot near the Briley Parkway interchange, 2.5 miles from the market, and died at the scene. His passenger was not injured.

According to a press release, the suspect’s car is thought to be an older model gold or beige Ford Expedition.

Surveillance cameras at the Mag Market recorded images of the Expedition, along with two men and a woman wearing a white top and pink sweater.

Detectives interviewed the woman on Monday and police said she was helpful to the investigation.

Detectives are continuing in their efforts to locate the Expedition believed to have been involved in the shooting, establish who owns the vehicle and identify all of the persons inside it Saturday afternoon.

Anyone with information should call Metro police or Crime Stoppers at 615-74-CRIME.
