A Westmoreland High School student received the surprise of a lifetime Friday when she learned she was the winner of a local radio station's talent contest.
Olivia Crudup learned during a school assembly that she won the top honor of 92.9's fourth annual Singing Star Talent contest.
Crudup's prize includes $1,000 for her school and another $1,000 for herself. She told Nashville's News 2 she plans to share some of her winnings with another student in need.
“There was a girl in the sophomore class in a car wreck a few weeks ago and at least half of it's going to her and her family,” she told News 2.
Crudup beat out hundreds of other contestants in the contest.
