A man and woman were arrested Saturday in Murfreesboro on DUI and public intoxication charges and what's worse police say they were on their way to pick up children.
Andre Thomas, 35, was arrested for DUI was while passenger, 33-year-old Stacy Davis, was charged with public intoxication.
Officers found the two seated in a car outside the Haven Wood Apartments on Battleground Drive.
According to the arrest report, Thomas, who was seated in the driver's seat, showed obvious signs of intoxication with slurred speech and bloodshot eyes.
There was also a cup of beer sitting in his center console along with two half-emptied 24-ounce beers and a vodka bottle on the floorboard, the report stated.
Police said Davis was also intoxicated and, according to the report, told officers they were on their way to pick up her friend's children.
While on his way to jail, Thomas made several racist statements and then later, during booking, he threatened to kill the arresting officer and his family, the report said.
Thomas was booked on charges of DUI, having an open container, driving on a suspended license and retaliation.
Davis was booked on the public intoxication charge.
Both suspects are scheduled to appear in court April 1.
