The new Central Precinct for Metro Nashville Police is now open.

Mayor Karl Dean cut the ribbon Tuesday morning.

The new precinct sits just across from the Music City Center on Korean Veterans Boulevard in downtown Nashville and will help police keep up with the explosive growth downtown.

The Central Precinct serves 7,200 downtown residents and nearly 12 million tourists each year.

The precinct was previously headquartered at the Bridgestone Arena.
