Lady Vols defeat Kentucky 71-70 to win SEC tournament

Meighan Simmons scored 17 points to help No. 6 Tennessee edge out 12th ranked Kentucky for the SEC Tournament title.

After starting the game down 18-8, the Lady Vols rallied back to cut the lead to just four at the half.

Tennessee brought the Wildcat's lead down to just one multiple times in the second half. With 8:35 to go, Isabelle Harrison hit two free throws to give Tennessee a 52-51 lead.

Kentucky quickly retook the lead and stretched it to five points before the Lady Vols tied the game at 63 with 2:26 left to play.

Down four with under a second to go, junior point guard Jennifer O'Neill sunk three free throws to bring the lead down to one, but Tennessee made a clean inbounds pass to hang on for the title.

DeNesha Stallworth led the Wildcats with 21 points followed by Linnae Harper and Jennifer O'Neill who each contributed 12.

Isabelle Harrison follows Simmons with 16 points and Jordan Reynolds contributed 11 off the bench.
