The Tennessee Department of Transportation's plan to widen Concord Road is continuing as drivers have noticed an increase in workers slowing traffic.
To help with the increasing traffic problem in the area, the road will be widened from Nolensville Road to Sunset Road.
When the project is complete, it will have two 12-foot lanes, a continuous turn lane, and a 10-foot bike and walking path.
Crews are moving the water and sewer lines and building culverts to bring the roadway up to a new elevation.
News 2 discovered that traffic could be shifted again in April to work on the other side of Concord Road.
According to the City of Brentwood's Web site, “Motorists can expect occasional, short-term lane closures to allow equipment to operate within the construction zone.”
The project is scheduled to be completed by the summer of 2016.
