An annual survey has found that North Dakota is the happiest out of all 50 states.
According to a survey from the Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index, states were measured on six categories, including individual life evaluation, emotional health, work environment, physical health, healthy behaviors and access to basic necessities.
The Midwest state received high scores for work environment and physical health.
The data gathered to determine the happiest state was based on more than 178,000 interviews that were conducted last year with adults from all 50 states.
North Dakota took the top spot from Hawaii.
South Dakota, Nebraska, Minnesota and Montana rounded out the top five.
