A dog owner filed a petition this week to have his canine on the ballot for the mayor's election in Irving, Texas.
Dylan, a Westie, spends his time listening to residents in the city talk about their problems and reports them on his blog.
Despite all the paperwork being in order, city officials said Dylan was not a registered voter, so he could not qualify to be on the ballot.
According to Local News 8, Dylan's owner Mark Howard, said he wasn't serious when he attempted to get his canine on the ballot.
Howard said his attempt stemmed from his disappointment with current city leaders and wanting to draw attention to problems in local politics.
“If you look at all the cat fighting, what better way to solve a cat fight than to get a dog in the mix,” he said.
