The jet stream is finally giving us a break.
In the first graphic to the right, you see the general pattern that has been so persistent this winter: The jet carving out a deep trough all the way to the Gulf of Mexico, allowing cold front after cold front to dive into the mid south with frigid temperatures.
This week, the jet will retreat northward, bringing the cold air northward with it (graphic 2)
We should see 50s Monday, 60s Tuesday, maybe upper 50s Wednesday, and near 70 on Thursday.
However, by Thursday late afternoon and evening, a cold front will bring some thunderstorms into the area.
It's early, but we will be watching for the possibility that some of those storms could be strong or severe.
The last graphic from the Storm Prediction Center shows an area of possible severe weather that extends into the western half of Middle TN, including Nashville, Clarksville and areas near the Tennessee River.
That's a ways away, so we'll keep you posted!
