Christina Foggie continues to leave her mark on Vanderbilt basketball with a school record, likely, just one game away.
The senior guard tied the school record for career 3-pointers in Thursday's loss to Auburn.
Foggie hit her 256th career 3-pointer in the second half to tie the record originally set by Merideth Marsh in 2010.
Foggie will have a chance to set the new record on Sunday as the Commodores take on Mississippi State.
“It definitely means a lot,” Foggie says of the possibilty. “There's been a lot of great shooters that have come through here.”
For Foggie, the chance to set such a notable record was a bit unexpected.
“It wasn't even a goal when I came,” she says. “It just happened, so it's very, very exciting for me.”
Foggie isn't the only one excited about the thought of a new record.
“I already am proud of her,” says teammate Jasmine Lister. “I feel like it will be an honor to able to play with that type of player that broke a record at our school and is probably the best shooter in the country.”
Foggie's 24-point performance Thursday night also moved her into the Top-10 on Vanderbilt's all-time scoring list. She was also one of 30 players named to Naismith Award midseason watch list.
