A police officer is being treated for a possible broken arm after he dove to the ground when he believed a suspect was pointing a gun at him.
Adam Potter was arrested late Wednesday night in the Goodlettsville area after he ran from a traffic stop.
According to an affidavit, an officer chased him and, at one point, believes Potter pointed an object at him. The officer dove out of the way believing it was a gun.
He immediately got up and continued chasing Potter, who he found hiding under a pickup truck. He was taken into custody after a brief struggle.
The object Potter allegedly pointed at the officer turned out to be a can of freeze chemical spray.
Potter was charged with aggravated assault on an officer, evading arrest and resisting arrest.
He is being held on $39,000 bond.
