Despite a rocky start, the Tennessee Volunteers managed to lead the no. 3 Florida at the half before eventually falling 67 to 58 to the Gators Tuesday night.
The loss puts Tennessee at 6-5 in the SEC while Florida remains a perfect 11-0.
Tennessee struggled early, turning the ball over five times in the first 5:00 of the contest.
However, the Volunteers were able to bounce back, putting together a 16-4 run to take a 32-26 with 3:51 left in the half. The first half ended with a 34-33 Tennessee lead.
The second half remained close as the Volunteers were within one point with under 4:00 left in the contest. However, a pair of Florida 3-pointers would prove to be the final straw for the Vols.
Jarnell Stokes captured his 14th double-double of the season with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Jordan McRae finished with 17 points while Josh Richardson contributed 13 for Tennessee.
Tennessee returns to the court Saturday traveling to Missouri to face the Tigers for the first time since 1984.
