Former Titans coach Brett Maxie did not have to leave Nashville to find a new job.

Tuesday, Vanderbilt and new head football coach Derek Mason, hired Maxie and Marc Lubick as assistant coaches for the Commodores.

Maxie will coach defensive backs, just like he did for the Titans.  Maxie played 13 NFL seasons for the Saints, Falcons, Panthers and 49ers.

Lubick will handle the Commodores wide receivers and is the son of former Colorado State head coach Sonny Lubick.   He spent the last four years as an assistant with the Houston Texans.

Vanderbilt also announced that Gerry Gdowski, who joined the staff last month, will serve as tight ends coach.

Tyler Barnes has been promoted to director of player personnel.
