A Middle Tennessee police chief that was arrested for public intoxication has been demoted.

Michael Douglas of Pleasant View police was arrested in January by Springfield police at an Applebee's restaurant while he was off duty, Smokey Barn News reported.

Douglas was placed on administrative leave as the town of Pleasant View conducted an investigation.

During the investigation it was determined Douglas violated several policies.
