A jury found a 50-year-old man guilty Wednesday of a deadly bar shooting that occurred in 2012.

Phillip Morton is charged with first degree murder for the shooting that claimed the life of Keith Gaston, 29, inside The Hard Times Bar located on Dickerson Pike.

Police said Morton approached Gaston while he was sitting in a chair and shot him one time in the head before fleeing.

Gaston, a Mississippi native, died at the scene.

Morton surrendered to police several days later.

He will have to serve at least 51 years of a life sentence before being eligible for parole.
