The expectant mother, Sarah Roberts, was being driven to the hospital by her husband Friday evening when she realized she wasn't going to make it.

“When she calmly looked over at me and said you need to pull over, that was kind of the moment of, ‘Oh my gosh! We're not going to go to the hospital to do this.' It became very real at that moment,” said Devon Roberts.

Roberts told her husband to stop the car.  He pulled off the side of the road two miles from Saturn Parkway on Interstate 65 North and called 911.

“I was saying, ‘Hey, we're having a baby on the side of the interstate. Come and help please, quick,'” said Roberts.

The couple was being followed by Luisa Crane, their labor coach, who also stopped to help.

The ambulance arrived just in time.  No sooner than paramedics loaded Roberts in the back her baby boy was born.

The delivery was a first for the paramedics who were reportedly cheering and giving each other high fives after the birth.

“The paramedics were clapping and cheering and they were so excited for us,” Roberts said.

Jeremiah Roberts weighed 8 pounds, 7 ounces and was 21.5 inches long.
