Predators' captain, Shea Weber, was considered “day to day” leading up to Friday's game against New Jersey. Instead of sitting out with an upper-body injury, he scored twice-including the game winner- to give the Predators the 3-2 overtime win against the Devils.
Nashville jumped out to the early 1-0 lead on a slap shot from Weber at 6:45 into the contest. The second period, however, belonged to New Jersey.
Patrick Elias scored at 13:00 of the second period with a shot that deflected off of Nashville goalie, Carter Hutton's, glove and in to tie the game.
Then, with just over 1:00 in the second, the Devil's scored again on the wrap-around from Jaromir Jagr.
With his team trailing 2-1 and less than a minute to go in the game, Barry Trotz pulled his goaltender for an extra attacker and it paid off. Roman Josi's shot was deflected in front of the net but landed in position for David Legwand to net the game tying goal with 10.8 seconds left in the contest.
Weber's second goal of the night came at 1:29 of the extra period to give the Predators the come-from-behind win.
The Predators close out back-to-back games Saturday in St. Louis.
