The Lipscomb Bisons defeated the Northern Kentucky Norse 75-74 Friday night. The Bisons were up 73-71 with ten seconds left when Malcolm Smith made a quick basket to increase the lead to four. A three pointer at the buzzer from Northern Kentucky's Todd Johnson was too little too late as the Bisons nabbed their eighth win of the season.
Northern Kentucky's six point lead in the first half was their largest of the night, despite 20 Lipscomb turnovers. The Bisons scored 19 points off of the Norse's 13 turnovers.
The Bisons were up 64-51 with 4:22 left in the game but the Norse battled back to make it a four point game with one minute left on the clock. Smith's quick layup gave the Bisons the lead they needed to hang on and defeat the Norse. Smith led the team with 21 points and five rebounds, followed by his brother Martin Smith who had 15 points. Josh Williams contributed eleven points off the bench and led the team in rebounds with eight.
The Bisons are now 3-6 in conference play and 8-12 overall.
