One home and 10 vehicles were burglarized in a Franklin subdivision on Friday evening.

According to police, someone forced entry into a home in the 1500 block of Championship Boulevard in the Westhaven neighborhood while a family was sleeping inside.

The suspects pried open a locked back door and stole a purse from the kitchen table.  Brian Goddard and his family, who moved into the upscale neighborhood six months ago, realized what had happened after waking up at around 6:30 a.m. on Saturday and finding the back door ajar.

“To find out that not only did we get robbed, but we got robbed while we were at the house sleeping it got us freaked out a little bit,” Goddard told News 2.

Ten vehicles were also burglarized in the neighborhood.  Most of the vehicles targeted had valuables visible through the windows.  The suspects quietly entered unlocked cars in the neighborhood and broke windows out of locked vehicles.  Among the items stolen were two rifles and a handgun.

Guy Land's wife noticed their truck was broken into first thing Saturday morning.  The crooks got away with just his wife's pepper spray. Land feels uneasy knowing the thieves got away with his neighbors' fire arms.

“We use it for protection, they use it to hawk them and probably for drug money who knows,” Land said.

Police are urging citizens to be vigilant by locking car and house doors and keeping valuables out of view by windows in cars and homes.

Investigators are asking anyone in the neighborhood with home surveillance systems to review footage from overnight, and contact police if your cameras caught a glimpse of anything suspicious.

Anyone with information is urged to call Williamson County Crime Stoppers at 615-794-4000
