Sigismondo “Louie” Cioffi is the Tennessee Titan's new defensive backs coach.

He is the latest addition to head coach Ken Whisenhunt's staff.

Cioffi spent last year as the defensive backs coach for the Cleveland Browns and has 18 years of NFL coaching experience.

Previous to joining the Browns, Cioffi spent two years with the Arizona Cardinals. The Browns ranked third in the NFL in fewest yards per passing attempt and eighth in passing yards allowed in 2013. Browns cornerback Joe Haden earned his first Pro Bowl selection under the guidance of Cioffi.

Before joining the Cardinals, Cioffi spent 14 years with the Cincinnati Bengals. He spent six of those seasons as a defensive assistant and eight years as an assistant defensive backs coach. The Bengals ranked fifth in NFL interceptions during his time as assistant defensive backs coach.

“I am very excited to be reunited with Coach Whisenhunt and to get to work building a championship team,” said Cioffi. “I think he [Whisenhunt] is an outstanding communicator, a great motivator and terrific at attacking opposing offenses. As a db coach, I see myself as a teacher. I want to make sure players understand the expectations, hold them accountable and put them into positions to succeed. We will be fundamentally sound, play physical and with good technique.”

In addition to Cioffi, the Titans have announced Jason Michael as the offensive coordinator and Lou Spanos as the linebackers coach.
