In anticipation of cold weather this week, Metro-Nashville Public Schools bus drivers will be getting up early to start warming up buses.
Beginning Wednesday, bus drivers will start their buses at 4:30 a.m.
The early start will give buses time to warm up before students board them. It will also give service trucks a chance to get there and make repairs as needed if some buses don't start.
During the last cold snap when temperatures in the Metro area dropped to single digits, buses in need of repair contributed to classes being canceled for two days.
MNPS also had trouble heating some classrooms during those frigid temperatures.
