A Hendersonville family is pleading for the safe return of a missing teenager more than a month after her disappearance.

Sidney Richards was last seen on December 7, leaving behind her young daughter who was born premature and requires a great deal of medical attention.

“The baby was born very early at 24 weeks. It's been a long process to get her healthy,” Sidney's aunt Christie Townes said. “We've had 24/7 care at her home. You know things are just very chaotic and it's a lot for a young girl to take on.”

Townes told Nashville's News 2 she believes her niece was overwhelmed prior to her disappearance.

“She did leave some letters saying she felt like this just wasn't the place for her and that she needed to get out and that she knew Brailey would be taken care of here,” she said.

Police believe Sidney could be in the company of 20-year-old Daniel Singelyn who goes by the name Nick. He faces charges for contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Authorities said the pair could be as far away as South Carolina.  They are believed to be driving a white Ford Escape with Tennessee license plate No. H42-39X.

“We want her to just call us and let us know that she's okay and that she's safe,” Sidney's mother Alicia Tobitt said. “I want her to know that she's loved no matter what, unconditionally.”

Sidney has brown hair and brown eyes.  She was last seen wearing a black shirt and knee-high rainbow socks.

She has a nose and cheek piercing and is five feet, three inches tall and weighs 130 pounds.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts is urged to call the TBI at 1-800-TBI-FIND or Hendersonville police at 615-822-1111.
