Police were called to a Springfield hospital Monday night after dispatchers notified them a shooting victim came in.
The 23-year-old victim reported he was standing on the corner of 21st Avenue and Carter Street when he heard gunshots around 8 p.m.
He started running away when he was struck by a bullet in his rear end.
His friend, who was present at the time of shooting, reported he saw the shooter and identified him as a man named “Jody.”
The witness told police “Jody” fled the scene in a newer model white Ford Crown Victoria.
An arrest has yet to be made.
