A 55-year-old convicted robber and burglar is back behind bars due to the help of an alert citizen.
Police were called to the 2100 block of Portland Avenue after a nearby neighbor saw Alexander Baxter climb a privacy fence and enter a home.
As Baxter went to leave the home, helicopter crews and on-ground officers were already on the scene.
Upon seeing the officers, Baxter fled on foot to a nearby alley.
He was located a short time later hiding behind a water heater inside a home located on Fairfax Avenue.
Baxter is charged with aggravated burglary, attempted vehicle theft and possession of burglary tools.
He has previously been arrested for multiple counts of robbery, aggravated burglary, vandalism and assault.
He also has a domestic assault charge from last November that is pending.
