The Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl brought thousands of football fans to Nashville.  Among them a very special young man who got the experience of a lifetime.

With the help of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Trey Leonard was the honorary captain of Monday's bowl game at LP Field.

In addition to helping out with the coin toss, the 17-year-old Brentwood native got to take part in a number of bowl week activities such as sitting in on the coaches' brunch Sunday and watching the Titans' season finale from the stands at LP Field.  He was also provided a suite at LP Field to watch the matchup between Georgia Tech and his favorite college football team Ole Miss.

“I like the view, its warm cause it's kind of cold outside,” Trey told News 2.

It's been a challenging year for Trey and his family.  The senior Lipscomb Academy senior was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumor in April.

His current prognosis is good, though he is still undergoing treatment.

After months of chemo, Trey's parents wanted to do something special for him so they contacted Make-A-Wish.

The foundation not only helped Trey live out his dream of being an honorary coach, but is also making arrangements for him to meet his favorite NBA basketball player Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls in January.

“I thank Franklin American Mortgage and Make-A-Wish for choosing me,” Trey said.

“He is just so excited and just overwhelmed with joy and we just feel very fortunate that it's happening and he just so deserves it,” added Trey's mother, Cheryl Leonard.

Trey was also recognized during halftime while a short video documenting his journey aired on the Jumbotron at LP Field.

Trey goes back for his fifth round of chemo treatment Tuesday.
