A passing motorist saved a driver's life after pulling the victim from a burning car early Tuesday morning in Maury County.
The driver was traveling on Raleigh Beard Road in the Bethel Community when the car ran off the road around 6:45 a.m., struck a tree and burst into flames.
The driver was knocked unconscious in the crash and suffered injuries to his head and leg.
Ahren Longo was on his way to work when he saw smoke coming from the crashed vehicle.
“I ran up to make sure there was nobody in the car,” Longo told News 2. “And there was a man who was seriously injured in the car.”
Longo was able to pull the victim from the burning vehicle and to safety. Then he called 911.
In the 911 call tape obtained by News 2, Longo reported what happened.
“I got him out,” he told the dispatcher. “The car's on fire.”
The driver was taken by LifeFlight helicopter to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.
A spokesperson for the hospital said the driver was listed in critical condition Tuesday evening.
The victim's name has not been released.
