Dozens of volunteers joined forces with the Fraternal Order of Police on Sunday morning for the annual Shop with a Cop event in Franklin.

The FOP brought a Christmas cheer to 120 children at the Wal-Mart in Franklin. Each child was allotted $200 to spend how they wish.

The families were chosen by officers and the community.

Thomas Ingram's two daughters were among them.

“It's been a real tough year for us,” Ingram explained, “We had a daughter a year ago on the 28th of November that passed away from Myotonic Dystrophy type-1 and we had a son that passed away on November 13th of this year of Myotonic Dystrophy .”

He added that he also lost his mother just before Thanksgiving.

Ingram and his family enjoyed the shopping break from reality. He says the opportunity to be part of the event is a blessing.

Money for Shop with a Cop is raised by donations from local businesses, individuals in the community and phone solicitation efforts.
