The Franklin Police Department is remembering one of their own after eight years of faithful service.
Franklin Police K9 Sting passed away November 29. Sting, who was born in November of 2001, completed his police training in 2004.
According to a news release, Sting retired from the Franklin Police Department in January of 2012. He spent his retirement with Sgt. Aaron Compton, as the family pet.
Sting is remembered for taking a wide variety of drugs off of Franklin streets including the seizure of an 18-kilo shipment of cocaine, the seizure of a semi-truck and trailer, and the seizure of more than 300 vials of steroids and 10,000 steroid pills.
Sting was twice honored as a United States Police Canine Association Regional Champion in 2006 and 2009.
He placed 17, nationally in 2006, and 10 in 2009. He was also the National Champion in Agility in 2006.
Compton remembers him with these words:
“He was a great partner, friend, and member of my family. He loved serving this community and he is dearly missed.”
Sting was 12 years old when he passed away.
