An army of volunteers spent part of their holiday giving back to others through the annual Keith Searcy Memorial Thanksgiving dinner.

The event, which first began in 1987 by Gerry Searcy and her son Keith, provides meals for Nashville's elderly and disabled.

Volunteers provided more than 2,000 meals on Thursday.

Keith Searcy has since passed away, but his mother says his memory lives on through the yearly dinner.
