Preds hang on to early lead, defeat Coyotes

The Predators scored three goals in the first period Monday night in their 4-2 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes.

The Predators scored just 1:02 into the game on a wrist shot by Nick Spaling. Minutes later, Colin Wilson slid one to Mike Fisher who beat Phoenix goalie Mike Smith stick side to make it 2-0.

The final goal of the first period came at 18:27 when Gabriel Bourque converted a Viktor Stalberg pass on a 2-on-1 break.

Phoenix scored twice in the second period to make it a one-goal game but an empty netter off the stick of captain Shea Weber sealed the deal for Nashville.

The Predators now head to Columbus for a Wednesday night game against the Blue Jackets.
