A father was arrested for driving under the influence after the principal at a Nashville elementary school saw him staggering around the school's parking lot.

Joseph Skinner, 31, was arrested Monday afternoon in the parking lot of Tusculum Elementary School located at 4917 Nolensville Pike after the principal called police.

Responding officers found Skinner and his two-year-old child inside his car.  They reported he was slow to respond and seemed confused.

Skinner reportedly told police he took Soma and Oxycodone, both medications he is prescribed, but that he may have taken more than he was supposed to.

Police said he also had grass stains on his pants and an abrasion on his forehead that he could not recall.

Skinner was taken into custody after performing poorly on field sobriety tests.

According to an affidavit, Skinner also came up as a fugitive from Georgia for a parole violation.

He was arrested and charged with two counts of driving under the influence with a child, driving under the influence and being a fugitive of justice.

His bond was set at $100,000.
