The suspect at the center of a standoff in Smyrna was arrested early Tuesday morning in Rutherford County.

Gary Moncier, 44, was captured just before 3 a.m. after fleeing on foot sometime before authorities entered his Almaville Road home around Midnight.

Officers found the house empty and told News 2 they were unsure when Moncier escaped.

Details surrounding his capture were not immediately released.

The standoff began around 8 p.m. after Moncier got into an argument with family members and fired one shot.

No one was injured and family members were able to escape.

The situation quickly escalated after Moncier barricaded himself inside the home. SWAT team members were called to the scene and the home was surrounded.

As a precaution, Legends Steakhouse, a popular restaurant located across the street from the home, was placed on lockdown.

Customers who went directly to their vehicles were allowed to leave the restaurant just before 10 p.m.

Police reported the altercation may have begun over a Facebook post.

Moncier was evaluated at StoneCrest Medical Center in Smyrna following his arrest.

He was booked into the Rutherford County jail on charges of aggravated assault and reckless endangerment with a weapon.
