A Murfreesboro food pantry will be able to deliver Thanksgiving meals next week thanks to the help of some WKRN viewers.
On November 7, News 2 reported Greenhouse Ministries food pantry was nearly bare.
After the story aired, viewers flooded the food pantry with turkeys, canned foods, pasta and other staples.
“Literally we were walking out the door and a lady drove up and said, 'I just saw you on TV!' and she had gone straight to the store and she showed up with a trunk full of groceries,” Christy Sanford with Greenhouse Ministries said.
The food pantry will serve some 200 families Thanksgiving meals next week.
“We are hoping we have enough. As I said, we have had an influx of people, but I absolutely think we'll be okay this week and through Thanksgiving,” Sanford said, adding, “In addition to the stocked shelves, there's an energy here that I didn't feel two weeks ago.”
