The Belmont Bruins pulled off an early shocker in the college basketball season, upsetting 12th ranked North Carolina in Chapel Hill 83-80 Sunday.
JJ Mann was the hero for Belmont with 28 points including the game winning three-pointer with only 12 seconds to play. The Bruins outscored UNC 16-5 in the last three minutes of the game for the victory.
Belmont had the Tar Heels on their heels from the beginning peppering them with three-point field goals. They led by as many as 11 points in the second half. Belmont finished the game 15 of 37 from beyond the arc.
Drew Windler was the only other Bruin in double-figures, he had 16.
Belmont improves to 3-1 this season following the win.
