Tennessee State defeated Murray State for the first time in six years Saturday.
The Tigers came from behind on a 19-yard touchdown by Telvin Hooks to beat the Racers 17-10.
Hooks finished the day with 129 yards on career tying 25 carries.
After trailing 10-3 at the half, the Tiger defense held the Racers to just 25 yards of total offense through the remaining two quarters.
The Tigers were held out of the end zone until the 9:49 mark of the fourth. Ronald Butler's 2-yard pass to Wesley Samuels capped off a nine play, 67-yard drive to tie the game at 10-10.
Hooks' game winning touchdown came with just 1:28 left to go in the contest.
The Tigers have a bye week while they wait to learn their postseason fate. Postseason match-ups will not be decided until November, 24.
