After months of work and millions of dollars, the new East McEwen Drive Connector at Cool Springs Boulevard in Franklin has been open to traffic for one week.
Since traffic started flowing last Sunday, residents have noticed some traffic backup during the morning rush hour.
“The questions was, ‘Why the hold up and what is going to be done?'” said Alderman Beverly Burger.
Burger, who represents the 1st Ward, stated a solution is on the way.
Currently, one lane of traffic on each connector road and the inside lane of the roundabout are closed while the final touches are being made.
Those lanes are expected to be open as early as next Friday.
City officials also hope to add a right turn lane for traffic turning from East McEwen drive onto Cool Springs Boulevard to keep some vehicles from having to travel through the roundabout.
If approved, that project could be completed next year.
