Vanderbilt University opened the doors of their brand new indoor athletic facility Tuesday.
The facility is part of a $31 million project that began last September.
The building features a full football field surrounded by a six-lane, 300-meter track.
There is also a LED display board, 35 speakers, a training room and second-floor viewing area.
“It shows a commitment to excellence in everything on this campus,” said head football coach James Franklin. “It gives us a facility that we have that I think ranks up with anywhere in the country.”
Vanderbilt Athletic Director David Williams declared the football and track portions of the new facility ready for immediate use.
“This is a very special day for us,” Williams said. “This is something that if you had asked me five, six, seven years ago, did I ever think we would have something like this in this place on campus, my answer would be ‘probably never.' But never came real quickly. And that just shows you what can be done when we all put our minds and arms together.”
