A man is lucky to be alive after falling off a 100 foot bluff earlier this month in Lawrence County.
Emergency personnel responded to Insurance Bluff in the Westpoint area on the morning of October 14.
A three-member rescue team repelled down the bluff to the injured man while other rescuers built a rope-haul system used to retrieve the man.
After he was pulled from the bottom of the bluff, the man was airlifted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. He is now recovering at Vanderbilt Stallworth Rehabilitation Hospital.
One rescuer suffered a laceration to his leg during the rescue.
