Jonny Gomes hit a tie breaking, three-run homer in the sixth inning and the Boston Red Sox rallied to beat the St. Louis Cardinals 4-2 Sunday night.
Gomes was zero for nine in the Series before blasting the homer off reliever Seth Maness.
David Ortiz added three hits and encouraged the Red Sox, shouting at his teammates from second base after a double and later gathering them for a huddle in the dugout.
Ortiz pep talk did the trick as the Red Sox evened the series at 2-2 with a 4-2 win in game four.
Game five is Monday night, with Jon Lester starting for Boston against Adam Wainwright.
