Tens of thousands of people packed downtown Franklin Saturday for their annual Pumpkin Fest.

The festival featured five blocks of entertainment featuring music, a costume contest, a chili cook-off and rows of arts and crafts booths.

Pumpkin Fest, now in it's 30th year, was one of the first festivals that The Heritage Foundation started to promote the historic district of Franklin.

“It's a great tradition in downtown Franklin. Main Street is beautiful in the fall. The kids love pumpkin fest, they love getting to come to Main Street in their costumes,” Nancy Williams with the Downtown Franklin Association told Nashville's News 2.

Downtown merchants also added a scarecrow contest to add to the fun.

Travel and Leisure named Franklin one of the best cities in the country to celebrate Halloween.

The free festival runs from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.
