At least 25,000 people are expected to attend the annual Race for the Cure event in Brentwood on Saturday.
The race takes place at Maryland Farms in Brentwood.
Event organizers are hoping to raise $1.2 million dollars, 75% of which would stay here in Middle Tennessee.
Breast cancer survivor Robin Wilson stopped by the News 2 studio to share her story.
“I had a friend who came to check on me after my surgery, and I said you know girl we are at that age that you need to go get checked. She went to go get checked and she found out she had breast cancer,” explained Wilson.
She continued, “I was so glad that I said something, and I was so glad that she listened, and that's why sharing my story and getting the word out is so important.”
Wilson's cancer was caught early, and now she's active with Susan G. Komen trying to spread awareness about early detection.
Registration begins at 6:30 a.m. and the race begins at 9:00 a.m.
