KNOXVILLE (AP) – A professor at the University of Tennessee has received a lifetime achievement award from the National Association of Social Workers Foundation.
Charles Glisson established the Children's Mental Health Services Research Center in the College of Social Work.
The award recognizes exemplary contributions to health and mental health practice including direct or clinical social work, social work education, social work research and administration related to the field.
Glisson's research focuses on removing bureaucratic barriers to treating children effectively.
He has been instrumental in helping human service organizations deliver adequate treatment and improving mental health outcomes for children and their families.
