Historically difficult run for Tennessee Volunteers

If new Tennessee head coach Butch Jones is looking for a break in the schedule he will not find it soon. The Volunteers are in the midst of one of the most difficult schedules in recent NCAA history.

The 4-3 Vols play their third straight Top 25 team Saturday when they visit fifth ranked Missouri and then come home next week to play eleventh ranked Auburn.

If those rankings hold up that would make seven ranked opponents in eight games. That has not happened in a single season since 1993 when Pittsburgh was forced to run the gauntlet.

The Vols are 1-3 so far in that stretch and they are a 28 point underdog Saturday at top ranked Alabama.
