A Memphis man was arrested Monday afternoon when he allegedly called 911 to report he was overcharged for his beer.
According to The Commercial Appeal, 51-year-old Danny Smith bought a Heineken beer and felt the clerk owed him one more cent.
Smith reportedly called 911 two times when the clerk would not give him the penny.
The newspaper said police arrived and warned Smith not to call 911, that the situation was a civil matter and not an emergency.
Smith, however, allegedly walked across the parking lot while the officers were still inside the store and called again, this time using a non-emergency number.
He was then arrested for using 911 to make non-emergency calls.
Smith bonded out of jail on $250.
