LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) – Louisville-Metro police say emergency crews have conducted several rescues of stranded motorists whose vehicles stalled in flooded streets in the area.
Police said early Sunday they had no immediate reports of any injuries but some motorists had tried to brave rising waters in low-lying areas without success in recent hours – prompting emergency crews to come to their aid. Authorities also reported some scattered flooding in some residential areas as rain continued to fall early Sunday.
Authorities said fire and police crews had been called out.
A major stormfront sweeping the nation's midsection is being blamed for heavy rains in Kentucky and other states. Social media sites showed pictures of waterlogged underpasses and cars with water above the tires in some areas in the path of the storm.
