A former Metro cop who was indicted earlier this month for one count of official misconduct turned himself into authorities Tuesday afternoon.

Gerald McShepard, 38, is accused of sending an anonymous letter to the Commissioner of the Department of Children's Services containing confidential biographical information and provocative pictures of his ex-girlfriend, a DCS employee.

McShepard also made allegations, which were found false, of prostitution and pornography against the DCS worker.

Authorities determined McShepard, who had been employed by Metro police for 15 years, made up the allegations in an effort to cause his ex-girlfriend harm at work following their breakup.

McShepard resigned from his position in early July. He was booked on a $5,000 bond.
